Use of Browser Buttons, Closing Windows, Logging Off Browser buttons:
The use of browser buttons, with the notable exception of Print, is not allowed in WebKIDSS. This includes the Back, Forward, and Refresh buttons. Use of the browser menu items and keyboard equivalents of any browser buttons, except the print function, is also not allowed.
Each web page displayed by WebKIDSS has special context information that can only be processed once by the program. If, say, the Back button is used, then the previous page will be displayed. However, if you click on any WebKIDSS buttons on that page, this would cause WebKIDSS to try to process the context information a second time. At that point, however, that context information would no longer be valid and WebKIDSS would issue an error.
Any data that is entered on a page that has been reached via use of browser buttons will not be saved. When on such a page reached by browser buttons, any WebKIDSS button you click on will generate an error.
The most likely error you will see will be a browser message saying "You have already clicked on a button. Please always wait for the server to respond before clicking again." At that point, your only option is to close the window using the close box in the window title bar and log on again. Please note that if you get this message during normal use of the program (without using the browser buttons), then you should NOT close the window. Instead, you should wait for the server to respond since it is doing something that takes extra time or the system is slow.
You might also see the WebKIDSS Database Web Timeout/Lost Context page. On that page will be a "Return to WebKIDSS Main Menu page" button. Click that button to return to WebKIDSS without having to log on again.
Closing Windows:
Do not use the close box in the title bar at the top of a window to close the window.
Most WebKIDSS functions are exited using a "Done", "Cancel" or "OK" button.
Use the "KIDSS" (top of page) or "End" (bottom of page) buttons to close the WebKIDSS pages displayed for printing.
Use the "Close" button to close WebKIDSS popup windows.
Use the "Cancel" button to exit a WebKIDSS page after a file download has been performed.
Logging Off:
Click on the "WebKIDSS Logoff" button on the main menu to exit WebKIDSS.
If you do not log off properly, your browser may still be connected to the WebKIDSS program and subject to use by unauthorized personnel.
